What is transmission? How do you “feel” god.

A good question! Yes, how can we feel God? If God is beyond all conception, how can it be a feeling?

Who can answer the question, "What is God?"

To say God is beyond the beyond, or to say we can't know the unknowable, or any number of other ways of saying that we can't say what it is, doesn't quench our thirst for knowing. We are looking for something fulfilling, something we can understand.

An inspiration came to me at the end of a meditation a few months ago: God is That which has no opposite.

Now, when I consider this, it makes some sense. When there is an "I" those experiences, reasons, creates, etc., there is a "we." It is a "me" who perceives things, and there are all the things which I experience and interact with. As long as there is this I-ness, it wants to know and understand the things around it.

We have come to believe, or convince ourselves, that there is something called God that exists somewhere, that I need to understand, become like, find favor with, or worship.

The more "I" need to know, the more duality I create. We judge every experience against the information we currently have and, in turn, create new updated information, ever adding to our knowledge bank.

So, how does this relate to transmission and feeling a presence?

For anyone who has practiced Heartfulness enough to experience the deep meditative state that is brought about by receiving this mysterious thing called transmission, we know that at the end of our sitting, or meditation, we are often lost to ourselves.

For a few moments on coming out of meditation, we can feel complete, content, whole. No questions, no worries, no wants. It is a different state entirely, and yet consciousness is there. We are aware, but we are not engaging, neither with our environment nor with our thoughts. It is deeply peaceful. There is no "other than I," and therefore our sense of I-ness is also not felt much.

Is it a godly state? Is it a glimpse of That which has no opposite?

After doing this practice for over fifty years, I feel it is definitely a state akin to consciousness in its original pure and subtle condition.

So, the effect of the transmission has stilled the mind and returned us to our original simplicity.

Now, to your question about feeling God, it is like the sun and the sun's light. We can lie out in the sun and bask in its warmth. From this, we can know a lot about the sun itself, but can we ever be the Sun? We would be burnt to non-existence. Therefore, the feeling we receive from transmission helps us to be close to the divine, feel our nearness, be lost in its warmth—while still maintaining our identity.

We never become God, just as we don't become the sun. However, we imbibe its qualities, restore our inner simplicity, and allow our heart to open and shine its loving nature.

Receiving such a transmission brings us back home. A steadiness, a feeling that we no longer have to search. We are That which we seek.

Welcome the transmission like a blessing, a gift. Dive deep into it, be immersed. Then practice remaining in such simplicity all through the day and night — all questions about God will disappear.
